** Teenaged UK man jailed for sexually assaulting female medic

** Ohio paramedic pleads not guilty to filing bogus sick time claims

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** A 19-year-old man who sexually assaulted a female paramedic as he was being transported to hospital for a head injury will serve five months in jail. That is the word from STV (March 30) which said Gourock resident Kenneth Freeman was sentenced Wednesday for the July 6th incident. According to the newspaper, Freeman began his attack by forcing his head into the female medic’s breasts after he removed her fleece. Punching her in the head and attempting to bite her, he repeatedly asked her to be his mistress. The violence continued to the point where hospital porters had to pull him off the woman when the unit arrived at the ER. Claiming he had no memory of the attack, Freeman’s pleas were largely ignored by the judge who placed him on the sex offender registry. The medic, meanwhile, 41, spent 8 weeks off work recovering.

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A former Cleveland, Ohio paramedic, accused of tampering with sick time records, pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday. WOIO (March 30) said Larry Barnes, who was also charged with theft, has now had his bond set at $1,000. According to the news site, Barnes, who quit his job in December of 2009 after being accused of wrongdoing, allegedly submitted bogus medical leave excuse forms for both him and his family. He had worked for city EMS some 18 years at the time.
