** Texas paramedic charged with intoxication assault after drunk driving mishap

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A Texas paramedic from Katy has been charged with intoxication assault after an off duty truck accident in which two people were critically injured. KPRC2 (Brandon Walker/March 26) said Kurt Garrett Turner, 24, was taken into custody earlier this week in relation to the February 2nd crash. According to the news site, Turner was apparently drunk at the time. Blood alcohol tests showed his level as .124. The legal level is .08. Police said Turner denied being behind the wheel of his own truck during the mishap. He also denied drinking alcohol, despite a police officer smelling the substance on his breath. A passenger in the truck, meanwhile, told police that he, Turner, and another man had been drinking and that the accident occurred on the way home from the bar.
