** A Massachusetts man has been arrested after pointing a loaded 12 gauge Remington shotgun at police deputies called to mediate a domestic dispute. That is the word from The Newbury Port News (AngelJean Chiaramida/July 30) which said John F. Morrissey, 59, also led officers on a high speed chase Thursday after a failed attempt by police to take him into custody. According to the newspaper, Morrissey was eventually arraigned in his hospital room Friday where he was taken for cardiac issues. He has been charged with assault to murder, assault with a firearm, domestic assault and battery, speeding, and driving while intoxicated. A hearing to be held August 5th will determine if Morrissey is too dangerous to be released on bail.
** New York police in The Bronx have charged a man with stealing an ambulance while EMTs were attempting to treat a patient. PIX 11 (Samantha Tata/August 1) said Juan Velos-Santos, 21, was allegedly drunk at the time he slid behind the wheel of the EMS unit. Breaking the rear window to gain entry, he then proceeded to hit one parked and two moving cars before his escapade came to an end. Along with reckless endangerment, grand larceny, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, Velos-Santos will also likely be tagged with aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle with .08 per cent blood alcohol level, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal impersonation, criminal mischief, and leaving the scene of an accident with injury. One of the car drivers struck in the incident was transported to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
