AUSTRALIA NEWS
** An Ambulance Victoria paramedic, beaten up while responding to a call for an elderly male, now faces weeks of recovery in hospital. That is the word from The Herald Sun (Harold Deery/April 4) which said the unnamed male practitioner has already undergone two surgical procedures following the Thursday attack. According to the newspaper, the medic was set upon by 3 different people simultaneously. Among them is 18-year-old Caris Underwood who has been charged with six separate assault tags. She remains in jail pending her next court date in June. In addition, a 30-year-old woman is seeking bail in regards to the incident. A 15-year-old boy was also involved. In the course of being pushed to the ground, the male paramedic suffered a broken foot. His partner, a female provider, took a hit to the head. A spokesman for Ambulance Victoria said alcohol and drugs are believed to have been a factor in the assaults.
