** A Texas flight medic from Terry County is dead after an off duty MVA near Wellman. KCBD (April 4) identified the practitioner as Carrie Lynn Spann, 38, of Lubbock. According to the news site, Spann was driving northbound on US 62/82 around 9 p.m. Friday Inexplicably, she was on the wrong side of the road at the time. She hit an SUV and ended up on the median. Spann died at the scene. Spann, who was a single mom, leaves two children behind. At the time of the crash, she was speaking on the phone to her fiancé. Funeral services are pending.

** New Brunswick introduced PTSD compensation legislation for first responders Friday. CTV News (April 1) said the amendments to the Workers Compensation Act will presume emergency workers suffering from the condition acquired it on the job. According to the news station, the potential statute was initially sparked by a private member’s bill from PC Ross Wetmore. The CBC (Daniel Mchardie/April 1) quoted  Labour Minister Francine Landry as saying her government intends to push the law through as soon as possible.
