AUSTRALIA NEWS
** A New South Wales woman has been charged with obstruct or hinder ambulance officer with an
act of violence after allegedly attacking a medic last Wednesday during a call. That is the word from
a press release put out by the New South Wales Police Force (February 18) which said the
unidentified Tumbi Umbi woman, 42, launched her alleged assault in the ambulance while en route
to hospital. According to the release, she punched the practitioner in the face after first lunging at
him when the EMS unit pulled over to the side of the road. She was immediately restrained and
arrested. Her next court date has been set for March 9th in Wyong Local Court. In the meantime,
she has been conditionally bailed. The medic, meanwhile, escaped unscathed from the incident.
UNITED STATES NEWS
** Funeral services are set for today in Fargo, North Dakota for a former Minnesota National
Guard combat medic turned police officer killed in a shoot-out last week at a domestic violence call.
The Austin Daily Herald (February 20) said the commemoration for Officer Jason Moszer will also
include all state and US flags flying at half mast in his honor. The governor of Minnesota has also
ordered flags lowered to note Moszer’s death in the line of duty. CBC Manitoba
(AP/Dave Kolpack/February 11) said Moszer, 33, had been on the police force for six years at the
time of his passing. It remains unclear if the man suspected of shooting him died by his own hand
or at the hands of police. Marcus Schumacher, 49, had a lengthy criminal history. In 1989,
he was convicted of manslaughter in the shooting death of a 17-year-old man. The case was
downgraded on appeal to a negligent homicide conviction.
