** Houston police in Texas have mounted a manhunt to find the killer of a paramedic found dead
in her apartment Saturday. The Chronicle (Anita Hassan/October 12) said Melissa Morden, 36,
was discovered by police after the man believed to have murdered her alerted her mother to her
daughter’s fate. According to the newspaper, Troy Aaron Clay II, 42, was Morden’s boyfriend.
He told Morden’s mother he killed her after discovering her with another man. Morden worked
with the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department. Authorities said she suffered some form of
trauma, but declined to provide other details as to the cause of death. KTRK
(Tracy Clemons/October 12) said a friend of Clay’s indicates he may have fled to Florida.

** A pair of Durban paramedics were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night as they attempted to
treat a patient having convulsions. News 24 (Jeff Wicks/October 15) said the robbery occurred
in the late evening hours as one of the medics was treating the patient in the rear cab.
According to the newspaper, the gunmen first approached the driver, forcing him to hand over
his valuables. Then they fled the scene. Among the items taken were a reflective jacket, stethoscope,
blood pressure cuff, bank cards, ID cards, wallet, dictionary, and a Bible. No one was injured in the
incident. Police continue to search for the suspects.
