** North Carolina paramedic indicted for murder; next court date September 18th
** Sentencing for Nova Scotia paramedic, convicted of sexually assaulting elderly woman, postponed
until October

** A New Hanover, North Carolina paramedic will next appear in court September 18th after being indicted
for murder on July 27th by a Pender County Grand Jury. The Port City Daily (Christina Haley/August 19)
said Dennis Robert Westberg, 37, stands accused of killing Larry Joshua Goodson on June 26th. According
to the newspaper, Westberg allegedly shot Goodson while the latter was visiting his home. There is no word
on possible motive. Westberg remains in jail under a $250,000 secured bond. Working for the New Hanover
Medical Center since 2004, he is on unpaid leave pending the case’s outcome.
CANADA NEWS
** Sentencing for a Nova Scotia paramedic, convicted of sexually assaulting the wife of an elderly patient,
has been set over to October 26th. That is the word from The Huffington Post (CP/August 18) which said the
case of James Duncan Keats is being postponed to allow for the preparation of a forensic sexual offender
assessment. According to the newspaper, Keats, who was to have been sentenced Tuesday, was convicted in
June in the 2013 attack. He also faces several other similar charges involving woman in different jurisdictions.
