** Mourners gathered in Glasgow Saturday to honor the life of police and air ambulance pilot Capt. David Traill, 51, who died November 29th in a helicopter crash. ITV News (December 7) said the service was held at the city’s university and included an honor guard of paramedics, air ambulance pilots, and police officers. Traill died alongside eight other people after the chopper he was in plunged from the air into the city’s Clutha Bar. Hailing from Falkirk, Traill was a Gulf War veteran who had served with the RAF. Along with emergency services personnel, Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also attended the service.

** A pair of female Texas paramedics have been arrested for allegedly stealing morphine from their service. That is the word from KGBT (Brett Crandall/December 6) which said Willacy County EMS medics Sara Ortiz, 35, and Lyndsey Cantu, 27, were taken into custody last Tuesday. According to the news site, the two Lyford women have since been fired. Police became involved after a co-worker said he saw the duo injecting themselves with morphine while on the job. Both women have, however, denied any wrongdoing. They have been charged with diversion of a controlled substance by a registrant dispenser.
