** US Navy Seal medic played key role in identifying body of slain terrorist leader bin Laden

** Pennsylvania WWII medic honored by France

PAKISTAN NEWS

** Details on the raid involved in hunting and killing Al Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden indicate a medic took both bone marrow and DNA samples to help identify the body. That is the word from The Telegraph (Jon Swaine/August 1) which said the US Navy Seal Team Six member advanced on the kill site via a Chinook helicopter. According to the newspaper, the medic’s job was part of an overall plan to kill bin Laden and take his body to Afghanistan. The news is in direct contradiction to initial government claims that the  terror chief might have been taken alive if he had obviously surrendered.

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A Scotia, Pennsylvania World War II medic has been honored by France for aiding in that country’s liberation from Nazi Germany. The Pocono Record (Wayne Witknowski/August 1) said Jack Lippincott, 86, was one of 10 veterans awarded the Legion of Honor medal at the French embassy in Washington, D.C. According to the newspaper, Lippincott served with First and Third Army and assisted in liberating Rheims and Laval while behind enemy lines. Although he re-enlisted after the war in order to serve in Korea, an injury prevented him from being in that conflict.
