** Funeral services set for San Francisco paramedic/firefighter who died fighting blaze

** EMS brass in Alabama town on hot seat after woman says medics flushed her stillborn children down the toilet

** Funeral services have been set for Friday for a San Francisco paramedic/firefighter who died following fighting a blaze last Thursday. The San Francisco Appeal (June 6) said the commemoration for Anthony Valerio, 53, who passed away Saturday, will take place at the city’s St. Mary’s Cathedral at 12:30 p.m.  The service will additionally remember the life of fellow firefighter Lt. Vincent Perez, 48, who also succumbed from the fire. Valerio, who had worked EMS/fire for 14 years was not married and leaves no children behind.

** EMS brass in Odenville, Alabama are on the hot seat, now that a woman is suing them for flushing her two stillborn children down the toilet. That is the word from the Associated Press (June 7) which said the action filed by Kimberly Chyann Garrison pertains to an incident which took place last July. According to the newspaper, Garrison alleges two paramedics and a fire chief participated in illegally disposing of her fetuses after she miscarried;she was 20 weeks pregnant at the time. The remains were apparently later retrieved from a septic tank. Along with Regional Paramedical Services Inc., the suit also names the city of Odenville and Odenville Fire Chief David Davis. None of the latter has issued any comment.
