** California paramedic beaten at baseball game put back in coma after seizures

** Tennessee paramedic arrested for drunk driving while on the job

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A Santa Clara, California paramedic, who was being slowly brought out of a medically induced coma this weekend, has been put back under after suffering several seizures. That is the word from the New York Daily News (Nina Mandell/April 18) which said Bryan Stow, 42, who was pummeled March 31 while walking outside Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, was placed under heavy sedation Sunday. According to the newspaper, Stow, who suffered a fractured skull and damage to the frontal lobe of his brain, has, nevertheless, made some progress. A neck brace was recently removed for the first time since the attack. Doctors hope the coma will stop the seizures and allow his recovery to continue. The physicians have also removed the left side of his skull to ease swelling on his brain.

** The driver of a Murfreesboro, Tennessee ambulance has a date in court June 14 after he was arrested Thursday for drunk driving while on the job. DNJ.com (April 16) said First Call Ambulance medic Bradley Lee Cox, 32, has been charged with DUI and reckless endangerment. According to the newspaper, Cox was spotted driving erratically and on the wrong side of the road by a police officer. Prior to being able to pull the ambulance over, Cox hit two mailboxes and a light pole. Along with failing a series of field sobriety tests, he also allegedly smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. A patient, who was onboard at the time, was unharmed in the incident.
