** UK paramedics don chemical suits to remove suicide pact couple from gas filled car

** Bahraini government vows to investigate riot assaults on paramedics

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** In what is becoming a disturbing new trend across Britain, Buckinghamshire paramedics were forced to don chemical suits to remove the bodies of a pair of suicide pacters in a toxic gas filled car this past weekend, an inquest heard. The Daily Mail (February 28) said the duo, a man and woman who are not believed to have known one another, apparently struck a online deal to kill themselves together. They then filled the car with the gas, leaving notes on the windows warning passers-by of the dangerous fumes. A dog walker who found the vehicle was later transported to hospital as a precaution. The incident comes just five months after police made a similar grisly discovery in Essex last September.

BAHRAIN NEWS

** The beatings of several paramedics at Manama’s Salmaniya Medical Complex during recent rioting will be investigated. That is the word from Trade Arabia (February 28) which quoted incoming Health Minister Dr. Al Baharna as saying his aim is to restore confidence among medical staff and patients. Al Baharna made his comments as he visited the scene of the February 17 and 18 attacks by government troops. Along with speaking to EMS Chief Syed Marhoon, he also spoke with other staff who said they had been assaulted. Baharna said because the violence at the facility had been an eye opener, he would take steps to ensure it did not recur.
