** Nova Scotia wallet thief given probation after stealing item from medic at call scene

** UK medevac pilot to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise air ambulance funds

** A Nova Scotia man has been given one year of probation for stealing a paramedic’s wallet from a call scene. That is the word from The Chronicle Herald (CP/January 20) which said Jody Francis MacDonald, 39, was handed the sentence Wednesday. MacDonald pleaded guilty to theft, fraud, and breaching a court order. According to the newspaper, he pilfered the wallet last November 10 while in Glace Bay watching an EMS worker attend to his sick girlfriend. Not through the court process yet, he is set to appear before a judge again on February 24. At that time, he will answer to charges involving assault, mischief, uttering a threat and breaching a court order x 4.

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** In an effort to raise funds for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Service, a Leamington medevac pilot has resolved to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. The Coventry Telegraph (Warren Manger/January 20) said Capt. Dan Martin, 36, will make the 19,341 feet climb with 25 others, including five air ambulance staff. Set to depart on July 14, the group will take seven days to conquer the mountain. A former RAF pilot who has flown missions in both Afghanistan and Iraq, Martin is also a flight instructor and has worked air EMS for three years.
