** Welsh Ambulance Service medic dies in road crash

** Illinois paramedic sentenced for stealing morphine from ambulances

** Welsh Ambulance Service workers are mourning the loss of one of their own, after medic Stephen Michael Thame was killed Friday in a motorcycle crash. The Western Mail (September 11) said Thame, who was traveling on Crynant’s A4109 at the time, died after his bike collided with a small car. Residing in Ystradgynlais, Thame worked for Neath’s Medical Services. A former soldier with the Royal Anglian Regiment and SAS, he leaves four children behind.

** A Morris, Illinois paramedic has been sentenced to 60 days of work release for stealing morphine from seven different ambulances. The Downers Grove Reporter (September 11) said Daniel Karczewski, 43, who committed the crimes in September of last year, was also given 48 months probation and an order to pursue counseling. Karczewski, who was originally charged with motor vehicle burglary, hypodermic syringe and needle possession, and possession of a controlled substance, begins serving his time September 19.
