** Irish man charged with assaulting medic

** South African medic charged after videotaping sex assaults on boys

NORTHERN IRELAND NEWS

** A Belfast resident has been charged with assaulting a paramedic, after attacking the practitioner Sunday evening. The BBC (August 20) said the Ballysillan Avenue incident took place as EMS workers were treating an unconscious man. When the patient came to, he became belligerent after refusing to go to hospital. The subsequent melee saw the man punch the paramedic and tear his uniform. Police tagged the 18-year-old with assault causing bodily harm, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon. He is set to appear in court today.

SOUTH AFRICA NEWS

** Friday has been set as the next court date for an Mpumalanga paramedic who filmed his sexual assaults on young boys. SAPA (August 17) said the unidentified practitioner, 27, faces charges relating to fourteen different Badplaas boys. According to police, the assaults occurred in 2005. Evidence was derived from direct complaints from the victims, as well as from laptops, cameras, and DVDs. Six parents have so far come forward to press charges. The provider previously worked EMS in Middleburg.
