** Mississippi medic robbed at gunpoint
** Two South African medics suffer head injuries in ambulance crash

** A Jackson, Mississippi ambulance worker had his wallet stolen at gunpoint Sunday. That is the word from the Clarion Ledger (Andrew Nelson/August 20) which said the 5 a.m. incident occurred in the western part of the city while one of the medics was parked and working on a run sheet. Although no one was injured in the incident, police told the newspaper the gunmen did fire on the unit.

** Two Netcare 911 paramedics are in hospital being treated for head injuries, after the ambulance they were in was hit by a car Saturday. The SABC (August 19) said the mishap, which occurred as the unit was en route to Pretoria, resulted when the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta lost control of the vehicle. Along with the two EMS workers, the N14 smash-up also injured five other people, including four in the car.
