** Michigan medics pay tribute to paramedic pair killed in last year MVA

** Michigan paramedics gathered Monday night in Kalamazoo to honour the memory of two colleagues killed one year ago in an off-duty car accident. WWMT (November 18) said the tribute to remember Trevor Stuck and Brittany Despins included the launch of paper lanterns in front of the Pride Care Ambulance office. Stuck and Despins died after the driver of the car they were in lost control and rolled on the business loop of US-131. Stuck died at the scene, while Despins succumbed a few days later.

** Ottawa paramedics gathered yesterday to pay tribute to long time paramedic and superintendent Thomas Dunn, 70, who died suddenly November 8. The Ottawa Citizen (November 16) said the service took place at EMS headquarters. Dunn, who remained on the job until his death, had worked in a variety of EMS jobs. Along with serving as a US combat medic in Vietnam, he had also been an EMS consultant to the government of Saudi Arabia. Beginning work in Ontario in 1992 with the St. Lawrence and District Ambulance Service, he joined Ottawa EMS in 2001.
