** EMS officials in Kentucky set up fund to aid injured medics

** Two Ottawa paramedics, injured June 18th in explosion, released from hospital

** EMS officials in Louisville, Kentucky have set up a fund to aid two area medics injured in a last Monday ambulance crash. That is the word from The Courier-Journal (Patrick T. Sullivan/June 26) which said donations can be made at any Fifth Third Branch with the account being the Louisville Metro EMS Injured Employees Account. Practitioners Jonathan J. Johnson and John Morgan continue to recover from injuries sustained in the head-on. Currently at the University of Louisville Hospital, Johnson was listed last Tuesday as being in fair condition, while Morgan was in serious condition in the ICU. The driver of the car who hit them, meanwhile, died at the scene. Police continue to investigate.

** Two Ottawa, Ontario paramedics, injured in a police training exercise June 18th, have now been released from hospital. The CBC (June 27) said practitioners Craig McInnes and Reid Purdy will continue, however, to recover from second degree burns sustained in the forced entry explosion. According to the news site, both men are expected to return to regular duty, though a specific date has not been mentioned. The exercise, which involved the Ottawa City Police, EMS, and the RCMP, continues to be investigated by the provincial Ministry of Labour’s Special Investigations Unit.
