** Court case moves forward for Utah deputy fire chief accused of stealing meds from ambulances

** A disposition hearing for a Utah deputy fire chief accused of stealing drugs from ambulances took place Friday in Salt Lake City. Fox 13 (August 22) said the proceeding for Marlon Jones also heard he had received hundreds of prescription pills from doctors. Among the meds were oxycodone, muscle relaxers, and sleeping pills. According to the newspaper, Jones has been on suspension from his job with Unified Fire Authority since May 2013. He was arrested after an audit found morphine and other narcotics missing from EMS vehicles and fire stations.
** A Pensacola, Florida EMT is dead after a Thursday accident that saw Blake Ressier’s motorcycle strike a car. The Pensacola News Journal (August 22) said the 5:40 p.m. crash played out with Ressier, 27, being transported to hospital where he later died. Police told the newspaper, he was wearing a helmet at the time. The car driver, meanwhile, Judith Kicker, 71, was not injured. Initial information indicates Ressier hit Kicker’s passenger side after turning left into her lane. Ressier was off duty at the time. Police continue to investigate. Funeral services are pending.
