** South African medics suspended after pregnant patient falls out of back of ambulance;baby dies
AUSTRALIA NEWS
** Australian paramedics are apparently pushing for professional registration. That is the word from ABC (Charmaine Kane/September 19) which said Paramedics Australia plans to raise the issue at the Gold Coast international conference which started yesterday. According to the news site, medics are seeking the same accountability seen with medical doctors and nurses. Organization spokesman Neil Noble said registration would advance paramedicine to a professional level, at the same time as gaining the respect of other allied health disciplines. Noble also said self licensure would allow paramedics the portability to work anywhere in Australia.

The woman, meanwhile, was aided by a passing motorist who transported her to the facility in his car.
