UNITED STATES NEWS
** A pair of Macon, Georgia paramedics are in hospital in stable condition after a Tuesday morning accident that saw one practitioner black out at the wheel, striking a second EMS unit. WMGT (February 24) said the Interstate 16 crash occurred as the two units were convoying down the highway. According to the news site, after paramedic Michael Hanner lost consciousness the ambulance caught on fire. The provider in the first vehicle, John Cleaves, got him out of the burning wreck. Neither ambulance was loaded at the time.
** A volunteer Glenn Echo Fire Department medic in Maryland, seriously injured while attending a February 15th MVA scene, has been moved to a rehab facility to recuperate. That is the word from Bethesda Now (Aaron Kraut/February 22) which said Sydney Marshall, 20, and Tom Schryver, 26, sustained their injuries after being hit by an out-of-control pick-up truck. The duo were attending crash victims on the road’s right shoulder at the time. Schryver is currently convalescing at his parents’ home. The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Police said so far they have been unable to discern why the driver of the truck crashed into the accident scene.
