** Former Australian ambulance officer convicted, jailed on child porn charges

** A former Queensland paramedic will be cooling his heels behind bars for the next 3 months after being convicted on child porn possession charges. That is the word from Caboolture News (Alex Nolan/June 19) which said William James Martin, 52, was sentenced to 18 months in the clink Thursday. According to the newspaper, Martin copped to possessing child porn exploitation material x 2 and using the Internet to access child porn x 1. Along with time behind bars, he was ordered to hand over his computer to police and pay a $200 fine. He previously worked as the Ambulance Officer in Charge at the Stanthorpe ambulance station .

** Police in Johannesburg have put out a public alert after an early morning ambulance theft Sunday. News 24 (Mpho Raborrife/June 21) said the heist played out with the thieves taking the rig from a medic’s home around 7 a.m. According to the newspaper, GPS equipment that would have helped track the van was removed as it sped away. Medical equipment was also dumped in a nearby field. There is no word on why the thieves targeted the vehicle..
