** Nova Scotia paramedic found guilty of sexual assault
** Wisconsin paramedic/firefighter dies suddenly while at work
CANADA NEWS
** Sentencing has been set for August 18th for a Kentville, Nova Scotia paramedic accused of sexually assaulting the wife of an elderly patient. The Annapolis County Spectator (Ashley Thompson/June 24) said James Duncan Keats, 49, was found guilty by a judge who released her report into the case yesterday. According to the newspaper, Judge Claudine MacDonald found Keats guilty of the assault at the woman’s home in May 2013, but dismissed a second accusation involving a September 2012 ambulance trip. MacDonald also found Keats not guilty of a breach of trust charge in relation to the latter and a second breach of trust tag related to the 2013 incident because Keats was employed with a private company and not a government agency at the time. Keats could now face federal prison time. Prior to his August appearance, the court ordered a pre-sentencing report. He still faces sexual assault charges involving five other female patients in Halifax.
