Prairie Mountain Health/Santé Prairie Mountain (PMH) s one of five regional health authorities in Manitoba.  PMH covers a geographically large area, around 67,000 sq. kilometers with a population of over 165 000 people, spread across a wide variety of urban, rural, and remote communities including 14 First Nation Communities.  PMH employs over 8,500 employees who work together to improve the physical, mental, social, cultural and spiritual needs of individuals, families and communities in Western Manitoba.

The Emergency Medical Services Program currently has openings for full time Primary Care Paramedics in multiple locations including; Russell, Shoal Lake, Roblin, Waterhen, Swan River, and Deloraine.  Additional positions are posted Monday – Friday every week. Duck Mountain Ambulance is an active and progressive rural emergency paramedic service with an annual call volume in excess of 1200 calls annually. We service the community of Kamsack with a population of 2000 plus our geographic area includes two first nations’ reserves to the north as well we provide service to the east into Manitoba. Out satellite station in Norquay provides service to its surrounding area including a third first nation’s reserve.

            Our fleet consists of 4 units in Kamsack and a 5th in Norquay along with a rover vehicle, we employ 10 full time staff and a pool of 16 part time and casual staff who come for a new experience. Staffing includes EMR – Paramedic with combined years of experience in excess of 200 years. We are settled in to our modern facilities with a spacious 4 bay garage, modern living quarters, fitness equipment, training centre, modern communications including Internet satellite TV as well as our administration offices.

            The Kamsack area is set in the beautiful backdrop of the scenic Duck Mountain Provincial Park which boarders Manitoba. The area offers recreational activities that include Skiing, Fishing, Camping, Snowmobiling, Quading and Golfing. The community of Kamsack offers a golf course, Hockey arena, Curling rink, swimming pool and movie theatre, as well as seasonal activities: Community events include the annual rodeo.
