** San Francisco paramedic/firefighter killed in training accident

** A California paramedic/firefighter from San Francisco is dead after a Wednesday training accident in which he fell three stories. CBS Local (October 7) said Jason Cortez, 42, died during a drill at the department’s Mission District training site around 10 a.m.. According to the newspaper, Cortez succumbed at hospital an hour after the accident from severe head injuries. A thirteen year veteran of the fire department, he leaves a wife and two children behind. At the time of his death, he was assigned to the city’s Tenderloin District. Funeral services are pending.
