** Michigan paramedics in case where live patient was declared dead sue over license suspensions

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A group of Michigan paramedics, who mistakenly declared a live patient dead August 23rd, have now filed a lawsuit over their license suspensions. That is the word from WXYZ (Kimberly Craig/September 9) which said two EMT/firefighters and two paramedic/firefighters have launched their action against the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, as well as against the Oakland County Medical Control Authority. According to the news site, the Southfield group are alleging their rights have been violated in the case involving cerebral palsy patient Timesha Beauchamp, 20. Beauchamp, who revived at the funeral home, remains in critical condition in hospital. The four, who have been suspended from their jobs,  say the license yanking occurred before they were even allowed to account for their actions. The City of Southfield, meanwhile, has sided with the medics, saying neither the state nor the medical authority have provided the group with information or justification for the removal of the licenses.
