** Florida paramedic/firefighter attacked by alligator; recovering

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A Florida paramedic/firefighter from Seminole County continues to recover after a last Thursday alligator attack that severely injured his right arm. MyNews13 (Kevin Connolly/August 20) said Carsten Kieffer, 41, who was off duty at the time, incurred the wrath of the animal while hunting the creatures on Lake Jesup. According to the newspaper, Kieffer and two friends were on a 19-foot motorboat when they hooked the animal around 5 p.m., pulling it into shallow water. As they were dealing with the lines attached to it, it jumped up about three feet and bit the standing Kieffer on the arm. It then rolled, released the arm and went back into the water. Kieffer was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. His condition is currently not known. Gator hunting season runs from August 15th to November 1st. Kieffer and his friends had licenses to hunt up to two gators in the region.
