** State of New York names bridge after EMT/firefighter who died of COVID-19

UNITED STATES NEWS

** In an effort to honor an EMT/firefighter who lost his life to COVID-19 four months ago, the state of New York is naming a bridge after him. That is the word from the LI Herald (August 13) which said legislation establishing the naming passed through both the state House and Senate on July 24th. The signature of Governor Andrew Cuomo is, however, still needed. The bridge, which is located on the Southern State Parkway on Corona Avenue at Exit 15, will bear the name of Valley Stream medic Mike Field, 59. Field died April 8th after contracting COVID-19 from a patient. Field was remembered as a nice guy, dedicated to his job and to mentoring the younger generation. A Cub Scout leader and Little League coach, his three sons are all members of the Valley Stream Fire Department.
