** Illinois medics in Hinsdale are mourning the loss of one of their own after a fellow paramedic/firefighter allegedly killed herself Tuesday. WGN9 (Shannon Halligan/July 21) said Nicole Hladik, 27, apparently exhibited behavioural changes before her suicide, including trading shifts unexpectedly and moving from an optimistic personality into a negative one. Brother Joseph said his family is shocked at Nicole’s actions, saying relatives want the death investigated to ensure there was no foul play. Joseph said his sister was active, fit, family oriented, and a good friend to others. A spokesman for the Village of Hinsdale, meanwhile, said they will do an external evaluation to determine what led to Nicole taking her own life. Autopsy results are pending.
