** Australian man arrested, charged after allegedly punching paramedic in the face

** New South Wales police in Sydney have arrested a man for allegedly punching an attending paramedic in the face early Saturday. That is the word from the Australian Associated Press (Gus McCubbing/July 24) which said the 27-year-old also tried to rip the face mask off of the paramedic’s female partner. According to the news site, police first took the assailant to hospital before charging him with common assault and assault causing grievous bodily harm. He appeared in Parramatta Bail Court later that day. NSW Emergency Services Minister David Elliott said he was disgusted by the attack. Elliott said he hoped the man would be swiftly punished under the law. There is no word on whether either of the medics suffered any injuries in the incident.
