** UK man jailed for spitting on paramedics

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** An East Midlands man will be cooling his heels in jail for the next 20 weeks after he was convicted Tuesday of spitting on a pair of paramedics May 16th. The BBC (May 29) said Dale Pickering, 31, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker x 2. According to the news site, married medics Matthew and Paula Page were called to treat Pickering in Warsop after he was found lying in the street. The Pages helped Pickering into his house, where he soon became aggressive, spitting in Paula’s face and pushing Matthew. When asked to stop because of potential COVID-19 infection, Pickering  ignored the request and continued with his behaviour. Police arrested him shortly afterwards. Ambulance service spokesman Kelvin Langford said his organization has zero tolerance for assaults on emergency personnel. Along with the above mentioned sentence, Pickering was also convicted of drink-driving x 2 and assault. He was given an additional 20 weeks in jail suspended for 18 months. There is no word on his next court date.
