** US Army seeking retired medics to return to service to help fight coronavirus

UNITED STATES NEWS

** In an effort to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the US Army is asking retired medics, doctors, and nurses to return to service to help out. The Washington Post (Dan Lamothe/March 25) quoted one general as saying they have put out the call to see if there is enough interest from qualified individuals. The move comes as COVID-19 infections are rapidly growing within the United States. At this point, all 50 states are reporting cases. As of yesterday morning, nearly 86,000 cases have been reported, with 1268 deaths (NBC News). Pundits say they worry current healthcare personnel could be overwhelmed with the number of cases or could become sick themselves. The army is already sending mobile hospitals to the hardest hit cities like New York and Washington.
