** Maine medic/firefighter facing manslaughter charges found dead

UNITED STATES NEWS

** The medical examiner in Lewiston, Maine has opened an investigation into the death of a well known paramedic/firefighter indicted on two charges of manslaughter. That is the word from the Sun Journal (Jessica Lowell/February 11) which said the look-see involves the Tuesday demise of Shawn W. Metayer, 60. According to the newspaper, Metayer was found dead at his residence around 11: 30 a.m. Police say they do not suspect foul play. Metayer was arrested four months ago in relation to the November 9th driving deaths of Derek and Stephanie Trudeau, 48 and 40 respectively. Police said his SUV crossed the center line, sparking a head-on collision. The arrest warrant alleges Metayer was intoxicated at the time. Prior to his arrest, Metayer had worked both EMS and fire for 25 years. His next court date was to have been March 10th. Funeral services are pending.
