** Kamloops paramedics in BC starting to see upswing in potential drug overdose calls?

** BC paramedics in Kamloops are apparently seeing a substantial increase in help hails for potential overdose calls. CFJC (February 14) said January saw 83 such responses, while the number in December was 53. Average monthly volumes for this type of call-out in the city are about 50. In the province as a whole, January saw medics respond to 1838 such calls, while the amount for the whole of 2019 was 24,000. Since January 2016, nearly 5000 people in BC have died as a result of illicit drug overdoses.
