** UK man jailed after spitting on paramedic
UNITED KINGDOM NEWS
** A UK man from Derby will be cooling his heels in jail for the next four and a half months after attacking an EMS worker trying to help him Christmas Day. The Westbridgford Wire (January 8) said Nicholas Watkins, 44, was handed the sentence December 30 for spitting in the face of the EMS medic. Watkins, who pleaded guilty, has also been tasked with paying 100 pounds in compensation. Local ambulance service spokesman Mark Ward said his organization would continue to pursue those who assault emergency personnel. He said attacks against frontline practitioners would not be tolerated.
