UNITED STATES NEWS
** A female Fire Department of New York (FDNY) paramedic is recovering after being attacked by her female EMS partner in the ambulance Tuesday. The New York Daily News ( Brittany Kriegstein/Thomas Tracy/January 9) said practitioner Theresa Murphy, 29, sustained a head wound requiring staples in the assault allegedly committed by Ashley Pernice, 27. According to the newspaper, the melee occurred around 10 p.m. as the duo were sitting in the EMS unit outside Harlem Hospital. Beginning as a verbal argument, the situation deteriorated when Pernice apparently hit Murphy with an electronic tablet. The strike landed on Murphy’s cheek and on the back of her head. Murphy has launched a criminal complaint against her partner, but so far no charges have been laid in the incident. Both women are on restricted duties pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
