** Scottish Ambulance Service New Year’s Eve call volumes jump nearly 3 per cent

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** Scottish paramedics were kept hopping New Year’s Eve, with call takers across the country recording 2547 help hails over a 12 hour period starting at 7 p.m. That is the word from The National (January 2) which said the expected high demand saw the Scottish Ambulance Service field additional dispatchers, support staff, and EMS crew for the banner night. According to the newspaper, the call volume was 2.7 per cent higher than on New Year’s Eve last year. Service spokesman and CEO Pauline Howie said attending to the high number of calls was challenging but met with the highest level of patient care.
