** California bill aims to name post office after late Vietnam combat medic

UNITED STATES NEWS

** California’s House of Representatives  has passed a bill honoring late Vietnam combat medic Jose Ramos by naming a Whittier post office after him. That is the word from MyNewsla (October 16) which said the statute made its way through the House Wednesday. According to the news site, the legislation must now pass the Senate before becoming official. Ramos was known for working to establish a day honoring Vietnam vets. Several states now observe either March 29th or March 30th as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. Born in East LA, he earned a Purple Heart in 1968 and had previously worked at both the LA-USC Medical Center and the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital. He retired in 1999 and died in 2017.
