** Australian man gets one year in jail for serious assault on paramedic

** A Midland, Western Australia man has been sentenced to one year behind bars for seriously assaulting a paramedic attempting to help him last month. Perth Now (Sarah Steger/Tasha West/September 6) said Bradley Phillip Nelson, 28, was handed the sentence Thursday for the August 24th attack. According to the news site, the paramedic, Ian Dyer, suffered a broken jaw and fractures to the base of his skull after being set upon by Nelson. He also lost consciousness during the incident. Nelson launched his assault around 3 a.m. while at the St. John of God Hospital. Despite the severity of the onslaught, Nelson will be eligible for parole.
