** Florida governor signs bill allowing paramedics to carry guns to high risk calls

UNITED STATES NEWS

** As of July 1st, Florida paramedics can carry guns to calls where their safety may be at risk. That is the word from Fox 6 News (June 10) which said Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill to that effect Friday. According to the news site, medics can be armed when responding to shootings, drug raids, hostage situations, and armed suicidal persons calls. The statute also explicitly allows prehospital providers to defend themselves or others to prevent bodily harm. Requirements to carry include the completion of an annual firearm safety and tactical training course. Kansas and Ohio have a similar law on the books.
