** Pennsylvania EMS brass in Pittsburgh have sworn in a female deputy EMS chief, marking a historic first for the city. That is the word from The Tribune (Megan Guza/April 15) which said Amera Gilchrist, 45, is also the first minority person to hold the post. According to the newspaper, Gilchrist began working EMS 20 years ago. Mayor Bill Peduto said her selection shows the city is dedicated to both diversity and inclusiveness in the public safety field.
