UNITED STATES NEWS

** Searchers looking for an Alaska air ambulance that went missing January 29th have apparently detected the aircraft’s emergency beacon. KHQ (AP/February 13) said the signal was first detected Tuesday. According to the news site, Guardian Flight officials, who are spearheading the search, are now attempting to pinpoint the exact location of the cockpit voice recorder housing the beacon. Coast Guard officials called off the search for the plane January 31st after finding an aircraft wing and some other debris. Guardian Flight resumed with a private effort. The plane disappeared southeast of Kake with a pilot, paramedic, and flight nurse on-board. It was en route to a patient pickup at the time.
