** Thousands of addresses in Scotland flagged as unsafe for medics to respond to

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** The Scottish Ambulance Service has apparently flagged thousands of addresses across the country as unsafe for paramedics to respond to without a police escort. That is the word from The Press and Journal (Calum Ross/July 13) which said some 2,557 addresses have been tagged as potentially dangerous. According to the newspaper, Glasgow leads the pack with 820 red-flagged homes, while Edinburgh has 469. Places like Lanarkshire and Ayrshire follow with 216 and 191 respectively. A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said while attending the sick is still the priority, the flagging measure is only one approach to ensuring medic safety on calls. Other tacts include upgrading EMS risk assessment and aggression management skills.
