** Australian man charged for May 17th attack on medic

** A Victorian man from Epping has been charged after attacking and spitting on a paramedic attempting to help him last month. That is the word from The Herald Sun (June 4) which said the unidentified Derrimut patient, 24, has been tagged with assaulting an emergency services worker (summary), assaulting an emergency services worker (indictable), and resisting an emergency services worker. According to the newspaper, the May 17th assault played out after EMS was called to treat a drunk and unconscious patient. After medics arrived on-scene, they were forced to sedate him after he became aggressive and began spitting. While loading the man into the ambulance, he lashed out and punched one of the providers, causing the stretcher to tip. One of the paramedics injured his back attempting to right the gurney. The practitioner also sustained facial injuries. The man’s next court date has been set for October 5th in Heidelberg Magistrates Court.
