** UK medic struck off after having affair with vulnerable patient

** A Basingstoke, Hants paramedic has been struck off after he had an illicit tryst with a vulnerable seizure patient. That is the word from The Sun (Lauren Probert/June 15) which said South Central Ambulance Service medic Darrel Dimond was given the prohibition from practicing by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). According to the newspaper, Dimond kissed the woman in the ambulance after she sang a provocative tune to him. He then exchanged phone numbers with her before driving the ambulance to her home to engage in a two hour sex session. Explicit emails between the two also followed. By way of explaining his actions, Dimond said he was only at her house to retrieve lost equipment. The woman, however, said they had intimate relations. A spokesman for the HCPC said Dimond had failed to take responsibility for his actions. Stephen Ferson said because of this it was likely Dimond could reoffend.
