** BC EMS official says drug abuse stigma must be removed
** A BC EMS official is bizarrely calling for initiatives to remove the stigma drug abusers face. That is the word from Global News (October 31) which quoted BC Emergency Health Services executive vice-president Linda Lupini as saying removing the stigma associated with using illicit substances could save lives. Lupini said preventing drug abusers from using when no one else is around would allow for a 911 call if an overdose occurs. Her comments come as new statistics have been released showing 85 per cent of drug overdose deaths occur when the user is alone.
