SOUTH AFRICA NEWS
** Violence against South African paramedics continued Tuesday morning, with a pair of Johannesburg practitioners being robbed at gunpoint in Alexandra. That is the word from The Alex News (October 10) which said the duo were hijacked en route to an area clinic with a patient. According to the news site, two robbers stopped the EMS unit and then demanded the providers’ wallets and cell phones. They then fled in the ambulance, dumping it a short time later. Johannesburg EMS spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said the paramedic crew is traumatized by the incident. He also called upon the public to help protect EMS practitioners.
