** Tennessee medic hit by drunk driver; in critical condition in hospital

** A Tennessee paramedic from Shelby County is recovering in hospital after being struck by a drunk driver Saturday morning. Fox13 Memphis (September 16) said the 6 a.m. incident played out with the medic having to be extricated from the EMS unit. According to the news station, the provider was trapped inside the damaged ambulance for about 40 minutes. The unidentified practitioner is currently in critical condition. The suspect, meanwhile, was arrested a short time later. His name has not yet been released.
