** Arkansas looks to enhanced sentences for those who target paramedics and other emergency workers

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Arkansas criminals who deliberately target paramedics and other emergency workers will face enhanced sentencing. KFSM (December 5) said that, at least, is the intent of a proposed bill filed ahead of the coming year’s legislative session. According to the news service, misdemeanor convictions could see offenders get an additional $500 fine and an added six months incarceration. Felony convictions, meanwhile, could see additional fines of up to $5,000 tagged on to sentences, with potentially five years longer incarceration. The next legislative session begins January 9, 2017.
